Guiding You Toward Growth, Resilience, and Balance

Welcome. If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re searching for a therapist who truly understands the complexities of life’s challenges and can guide you toward meaningful change. I’m Dawn-Petrice Youngs, and I am passionate about helping individuals, families, and high-achieving professionals navigate life’s transitions, manage challenges, and rediscover their inner balance.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Board Certified in Neurofeedback (BCN), I bring over 25 years of professional experience and a deep commitment to holistic care. I believe in the power of integrating science, compassion, and collaboration to create a personalized therapeutic journey for every client.

A Journey Rooted in Life and Professional Experience

My career and life have been shaped by rich experiences that inform my empathetic approach to therapy. Before becoming a counselor, I worked as a special education teacher and high school counselor, where I honed my skills in supporting children and adolescents with unique learning and behavioral challenges. These roles deepened my passion for advocating for neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD, autism, and related conditions.

Beyond the classroom, I’ve worn many hats: I am a wife to a commercial airline pilot (who is also a former sworn law enforcement officer), and a proud mother of three adult children with ADHD. These personal roles have given me unique insight into the struggles—and triumphs—of balancing high-stakes responsibilities, parenting neurodivergent children, and pursuing personal growth.

I understand firsthand the complexities of striving for perfection while juggling professional and family demands. As a self-admitted “recovering perfectionist,” I know the toll it can take on mental health. My experiences inform my compassionate, down-to-earth approach to helping others break free from perfectionism, manage stress, and embrace their authentic selves.

Specialties: Supporting Growth Across the Lifespan

I am honored to work with clients of all ages, including teens, adults, and families. My areas of expertise include:

1. Neurodivergent Individuals and Families

  • I specialize in working with individuals and families navigating ADHD and other neurodivergent experiences. Whether you’re a parent seeking strategies to support your child, an adult learning to thrive with ADHD, or a spouse trying to support your ADHD partner, I provide practical tools and compassionate understanding.

2. High-Performing Professionals

  • I have a special affinity for high-achieving individuals who feel overwhelmed, stressed, or stuck. My confidential, cash-pay approach ensures privacy for professionals like executives, pilots, law enforcement officers, medical providers, and others who need a trusted space to process their challenges.

3. Anxiety, Stress, and Burnout

  • Using evidence-based practices like neurofeedback, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I help clients reduce anxiety, manage stress, and reclaim peace of mind.

4. Trauma and Resilience

  • Life leaves marks on all of us. Whether you’ve experienced acute trauma or the accumulation of chronic stress, I provide a safe space to process, heal, and build resilience.

5. Holistic Health and Wellness

  • My approach goes beyond talk therapy. Together, we’ll explore how nutrition, hydration, sleep hygiene, movement, and mindfulness play a role in mental health. I believe healing is most effective when we treat the whole person, not just the symptoms.

Innovative Therapeutic Techniques: Neurofeedback, Biofeedback and Beyond

As a Board-Certified Neurofeedback (BCN) practitioner, I am proud to offer cutting-edge neurofeedback services to support clients in achieving optimal brain function. Neurofeedback is a non-invasive technique that helps regulate brain activity, promoting improved focus, emotional regulation, and overall mental clarity. It’s particularly beneficial for conditions like ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD and sleep issues.

In addition to neurofeedback, I also integrate biofeedback, a powerful tool that helps clients gain awareness and control over physiological functions like heart rate, muscle tension, and breathing. Biofeedback is especially effective for managing stress, anxiety, and physical manifestations of emotional distress, such as headaches and muscle tension.

In addition to biofeedback and neurofeedback, I incorporate a variety of therapeutic modalities tailored to each client’s unique needs, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Identifying and reframing unhelpful thought patterns.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Building skills for emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Focusing on values-driven actions to build a fulfilling life.

By integrating these approaches, I aim to provide clients with practical tools for managing immediate challenges while fostering long-term growth and resilience.

A Philosophy of Empowerment and Collaboration

I believe therapy is a partnership. My role is not to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you as a guide, helping you uncover your strengths, clarify your goals, and create a path toward healing and growth.

I take a warm, non-judgmental approach, meeting clients where they are and celebrating progress at every step. Together, we’ll work to build self-awareness, self-compassion, and confidence, empowering you to overcome obstacles and thrive in your personal and professional life.

Supporting New Therapists: Supervision and Mentorship

In addition to providing therapy, I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of counselors. As a licensed supervisor, I provide clinical supervision to LPC-Associates and master’s level practicum students, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to build successful practices. My approach emphasizes ethical care, professional growth, and fostering a strong therapeutic alliance with clients.

Therapy Tailored to Your Needs

Every client’s journey is unique, which is why I prioritize creating individualized treatment plans. Whether you’re seeking short-term support for a specific issue or long-term guidance for ongoing challenges, I am here to adapt to your needs.

For those who prefer flexibility or privacy, I offer both in-person and virtual sessions. My practice is cash-pay only, ensuring your confidentiality and freedom from insurance constraints.

Outside the Office

When I’m not working, you can find me spending time with my family, studying for grad school (yes, again), traveling, diving into books on historical fiction (and admittedly neuroscience and mental health), or enjoying a quiet moment in nature. I’m a lifelong learner, always seeking new ways to grow personally and professionally.

Personal Message from Dawn-Petrice:

Gotta love the freeze-frame of a video (see right if you’re inclined), <sigh>. Anyway, I do my best to create a comfortable and safe space for you to talk about hard things.
